Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” is set to conduct some additional filming in April before shooting begins in the Summer on “Avengers: Secret Wars”.
With these massive Marvel team-up films, rewrites are constantly happening before, during and even after principal photography as the studio and directors Joe and Anthony Russo shape the films right up until release.
That means nothing is entirely set in stone. This weekend, scooper DanielRPK and The Hot Mic’s John Rocha are both reporting that these movies are becoming so big that one idea being considered is that they may have to branch out into a seventh “Avengers” film:
“[My source] heard that Doomsday could run for three hours and that it’s huge. They are considering splitting Secret Wars into two parts.”
Such a move wouldn’t be unprecedented, especially with the sheer money being spent on these films and a guaranteed audience, though it would likely involve some serious contract renegotiations.
This all comes as another report from scooper MyTimeToShineH is claiming Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige wants the Russo Brothers to be very involved with the next saga and wants them to direct more films for them beyond “Avengers” entries.
DanielRPK is also reporting that Marvel is developing a new Scarlet Witch project as part of the Mutant Saga.
“Avengers: Doomsday” opens in cinemas in December.
