Nolan’s “The Odyssey” Already Screened?

Universal Pictures

Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s “The Odyssey” appears to be moving along faster than expected.

The director shot the film from February-August 2025, giving him a relatively roomy eleven months to complete post-production. Nolan is also famous for doing everything in camera and practical as much as possible.

He is also famous for delivering films not only ahead of schedule but under budget, something that apparently helps him avoid studio interference, even as the $250 million being spent here is his biggest to date.

Now, long time Nolan film scooper NolanAnalyst reports that at this point, six months before the film’s release, they claim that “it appears that Christopher Nolan has already finished THE ODYSSEY”.

They say on X that their sources informed them that the film has had a secret test screening at AMC Universal CityWalk in 70mm. Nolan, his wife/producer Emma Thomas, editor Jennifer Lame, and Universal chairwoman Donna Langley were all claimed to be present.

Even with his reputation, It seems doubtful the film is finished at this point – but a rough cut with unfinished VFX & color and sound could well have been screened.

Nolan’s film is all set for release on July 17th and will be his first to be shot entirely on IMAX’s 70 mm film cameras.
