Angel has premiered the trailer and set a May 1st 2026 release date for the Andy Serkis-directed animated adaptation of George Orwell’s famous novella “Animal Farm”.
In the film, a group of animals, tired of their old lifestyle, rebel against their human owners and take over the farm.
With their uprising over, the animals are presented with a fresh set of challenges under the rule of a cunning pig named Napoleon. It’s a situation that forces them to find the courage to stand up to Napoleon.
The voice cast includes Seth Rogen as Napoleon, Gaten Matarazzo as Lucky, Kieran Culkin as Squealer, Glenn Close as Freida Pilkington, Steve Buscemi as Mr. Whymper, Laverne Cox as Snowball, Woody Harrelson as Boxer, Jim Parsons as Carl, Kathleen Turner as Benjamin, and Iman Vellani as Puff and Tammy.
Serkis himself will voice the farm’s owner, Mr. Jones, and an elderly boar named Old Major. He directs from a screenplay by Nicholas Stoller, as well as produces alongside Adam Nagle, Dave Rosenbaum and Jonathan Cavendish.
The film premiered at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Serkis will next direct “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” opening December 17th 2027.
