Apple has announced that it is rebranding its six-year-old streaming service Apple TV+ to just Apple TV now.
Doing so means the same name will apply to not just its streaming service, but also its media player and its Apple TV app.
The news was revealed today in a press release announcing the streaming debut for “F1: The Movie” which launches on the service on December 12th.
Details as to why Apple is pursuing the name change have not yet been commented on.
The service launched in November 2019 with this marking the first name change it – as opposed to its competitors which have seen multiple name changes (and in HBO Max’s case, a change back).
Apple recently launched its new series “The Last Frontier,” recently finished its new series “Chief of War” and the third season of “Foundation,” will shortly be finishing the fifth season run of “Slow Horses,” and is about to launch “Pluribus”.
