Johnson, Safdie To Play Some “Lizard Music”

A24

Following their rave reviews and Silver Lion win for “The Smashing Machine” at Venice, actor Dwayne Johnson and writer-director Benny Safdie are set to re-team for Safdie’s next film “Lizard Music”.

The film will serve as an adaptation of the Daniel Pinkwater novel of the same name with Johnson taking on the key role ‘Chicken Man’. Safdie will adapt the script and direct, with the film about to be shopped around shortly.

In the story, a boy left to his own devices stumbles upon a secret late-night broadcast of lizards playing otherworldly music.

His search for answers leads him to the whimsical Chicken Man and his beloved elderly chicken companion named Claudia – two kindred spirits who also glimpsed the impossible.

United by a shared vision, they set off on an adventure that begins as a hunt for a hidden society but blossoms into a voyage through invisible worlds and the unbreakable bond between lost souls who discover magic both in what they find and each other.

Safdie, Johnson and David Koplan will produce. Johnson’s recently quite slimmed down figure at Venice is reportedly due to him preparing for this film.
