Though not confirmed, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is believed to be the first of a new trilogy of “Spider-Man” films for actor Tom Holland.
Holland, who was 19 when he began in the role, is now 29 – the same age Chris Evans was when he shot the first “Captain America”, and when Andrew Garfield shot “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”.
By the time he gets around to filming the second of this ‘trilogy’ he’ll be as old, or older, than the 31 years Tobey Maguire was when he shot “Spider-Man 3”.
Speaking with LADbible recently, he was asked about how long he plans to play Spider-Man in the MCU. He responded that a big reason he’s enjoyed the new film is being a key part of the creative process this time around:
“I think with anything, it’s all about what’s in front of you, and right now what’s in front of us is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and focusing on making that movie worthy of the last film.
I have been actively sifting through the internet and trying to best understand what it is that the fans want from a Spider-Man movie, and that’s been my driving force in these pitch meetings.
I think the producers, at times, were like, absolutely sick of me, but I think it’s really important, because we make these movies for [the fans]. In terms of my future in the character beyond this film, I don’t know the answer to that.
What’s been really fun about this most recent movie is designing the suit and being a part of that process and understanding what we wanted to try and achieve.”
The site also indicates that Holland told them that it “might be a spoiler to reference which [comics] inspired the new suit” that he wears in the film and was seen during filming in Glasgow last month.
Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film which is currently shooting in the UK for much of the rest of the year ahead of a July 31st 2026 release.
