“Star Trek: SNW” Gets A Puppet Episode

Paramount+

Paramount+ has confirmed that next year’s fourth season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” will feature an episode where everyone turns into puppets.

The puppets were created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop for the episode, which is directed by Jordan Canning (“Fragile Rock: Back to the Rock”), and a brief teaser for the episode was released.

Executive producer Akiva Goldsman, on the stage at Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, suggests the puppet episode is tied to an “unexpected and terrible transporter accident”.

The series has embraced its standalone episode nature, so much so each season usually has at least several experimental episodes and each week plays out in a new sub-genre.

This technically marks the first footage from the fourth season, which series star Anson Mount confirmed wrapped production yesterday.

A fifth and final season is expected to go into production before the end of the year with Goldsman indicating on stage the plan is to end the series on the first day Capt. James Kirk (Paul Wesley) takes command of the Enterprise.

He asked fans to write to Paramount and Skydance so they can make “Star Trek: Year One” – set during the classic original series time period of the franchise.

All this comes as the third season is still in the midst of airing, with only three episodes released thus far. The “Star Trek” panel at Comic Con screened in full an upcoming episode of the series which plays as a period murder mystery.
