Emmy and Oscar-nominated “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have done a groundbreaking five-year deal with Paramount.

According to The LA Times, the deal encompasses the global streaming rights for the renowned animated series and totals a stunning $1.5 billion.

Under it, regular “South Park” episodes will be coming to Paramount+ in the U.S. for the first time. HBO Max had previously maintained the exclusive streaming rights to the series until its deal expired last month.

As the new deal isn’t yet finalized, there is no official comment at this time on it.

The pact comes in the wake of a recent standoff between Parker, Stone and Paramount, with Parker and Stone accusing incoming Paramount president Jeff Shell of interfering in their contract negotiations with WBD and Netflix.

At the same time, Skydance – which is in the process of purchasing Paramount – is said to have balked at an agreement like the one mentioned here but would’ve been worth $3 billion over ten years rather than $1.5 billion over five.

Amidst all this, the show’s Season 27 premiere was delayed by two weeks and will now finally take place this coming Wednesday. Parker and Stone are set to appear at San Diego Comic-Con this coming weekend.

Parker and Stone are also reportedly renegotiating an overall deal with Paramount to continue producing new episodes for Comedy Central beyond their current agreement which runs until 2027.
