Marvel Studios has officially delayed the next two “Avengers” films.
The currently filming “Avengers: Doomsday” is pushing back its theatrical release from May 1st 2026 to December 18th 2026. Its follow-up “Avengers: Secret Wars” is similarly moving back from May 7th 2027 to December 17th 2027.
Insiders tell THR that the two films are the biggest titles Marvel has ever made, and the date shifts help the production schedules.
The success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in a December release date has also proven that date can work fine for Marvel.
Disney isn’t giving up that May 2026 release date though, the studio also announcing today that “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will be taking that slot. They also indicate Ridley Scott’s apocalyptic thriller “The Dog Stars” will open on March 27th 2026.
At present, the only film set for a December 18th 2026 release is “Dune Messiah” which will probably now move into early 2027.
