George Miller has confirmed he’s currently working on another “Mad Max” prequel film after the upcoming “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”.
Ahead of the film’s sneak peek in Sydney tonight and international premiere at Cannes in a few weeks, Miller has been out doing his first media for the title.
Previously he teased another prequel set a year before ‘Fury Road’, as opposed to “Furiosa,” which unfolds 15-20 years earlier, that he had done as a novella. It looks at what happened to Max in the year before we encounter him in ‘Fury Road’.
Now it seems that novella is becoming a screenplay, not unlike how “Furiosa” itself was similarly born out of the supplemental material he created for ‘Fury Road’. He tells EW:
“Well, we are certainly working on it. And as I say, we wrote that basically as a novella, and now we’ve got a chance, we will get that into a screenplay form, and then we’ll take it from there.”
“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” starring Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa and Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus, is scheduled to be released in cinemas on May 24th.
