Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Doctor Strange”), Karen Gillan (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and Jacob Tremblay (“Room”) have all joined the cast of filmmaker Mike Flanagan’s newest feature “The Life of Chuck”.
An adaptation of a Stephen King short story, the work involves three separate stories that are linked to tell the biography of the supposedly ordinary man named Charles Krantz.
However, the story unfolds in reverse, beginning with his death from a brain tumor at 39, and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house. The work was published in 2020 anthology collection “If It Bleeds”.
“Loki” star Tom Hiddleston is set to play the title character and Mark Hamill will play the role of Albie. Character specifics regarding the new trio are unknown though Gillan and Tremblay have worked with Flanagan before on “Oculus” and “Doctor Sleep” respectively.
The project marks Flanagan’s third King film adaptation after 2017’s “Gerald’s Game” and 2019’s “Doctor Sleep”. It has a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement allowing it to film with shooting underway along the Alabama Gulf Coast.
Flanagan launched his most recent series “The Fall of the House of Usher” earlier this month on Netflix and is working on a combination movie and television adaptation of King’s fantasy saga “The Dark Tower” at Amazon.
