“Daryl Dixon” Showrunner Teases Season 2

AMC

In the wake of Sunday’s “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” first season finale, showrunner David Zabel has spoken about the reveals in that finale and what’s to come in the show’s second season.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE “DARYL DIXON” FINALE

First up, he confirms to TV Line that the photos that came out back in June showing actress Melissa McBride back in her role as Carol was during her filming scenes for this finale episode (not for season 2).

He says one episode of the second season will really dig into the backstory of Genet and how she went from a museum worker to essentially run all of France. Said episode: “will also take us back to see some of the dawn of the apocalypse in France.”

Part of that Genet element will also reveal more about the walker experiments that are changing the undead, what they’re doing exactly and why.

Then there’s the mysterious child Laurent Carriere, to which he says: “we have a pretty clear idea of who Laurent is and what he represents”.

As for Carol, he tells EW they already have a plan for her to follow:

She has a very active story that’s about her trying to find and protect her friend, who she’s worried about. But she also has this internal story, which we’ve only hinted at, but there’s a whole internal Carol story that plays out across the episodes of season 2.

And so she has a great dual track that we’re setting her off on and we’ve shot some of that already, and it’s going to be fantastic when it’s all together.”

All six episodes of the first season of “Daryl Dixon” are now up on AMC+ and the series has already begun filming its second season. Check out the just-released teaser for that new season below.
