AMC has announced that “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” the latest spin-off of the undead franchise, officially had the biggest premiere in the history of its AMC+ streaming service.
With three weeks of streaming data available, the new series centering on Norman Reedus’ fan-favorite character, reportedly overtook its immediate predecessor “The Walking Dead: Dead City” which launched back in June.
That series followed Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie and Negan and claimed the honor back in June. Both shows have already been renewed for second seasons.
In addition, “Daryl Dixon” is looking to become the most-viewed season of any series in all of AMC+ history and has seen steady viewership growth over its first four weeks.
The fourth episode on Sunday last weekend pulled in new series highs in total viewership with 1.1 million tuning in according to Nielsen Live+3 ratings.
An advance screening of the season finale will take place at New York Comic Con on October 12th – three days before its linear airing. Another spin-off, the Rick and Michonne-led “The Ones Who Live” starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, airs in 2024.
