AMC Global Media and Netflix are teaming up to produce “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” and “The Nice Guys” writer/director Shane Black’s new spy thriller series “Bannerman”.
The story follows Paul Bannerman, a lethal covert operative who convinces a group of the world’s most deadly assassins to quit the spy game for a chance to lead normal lives in the suburbs of Connecticut.
Old enemies, bad habits, a paranoid government and an unrelenting ex-cop will make retirement their most difficult mission yet. The series is based on a series of five novels by John R. Maxim.
The project marks Black’s first foray as writer/director into television. He will direct the first two episodes and co-write the first episode with Craig Silverstein (“Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” “Turn: Washington’s Spies,” “Nikita”) who will serve as showrunner.
Both will executive produce alongside “The Walking Dead” alums Greg Nicotero and Brian Witten.
AMC will premiere “Bannerman” in the U.S. and Canada with Netflix to release each season there 90 days after the AMC season finale. The companies will also premiere episodes together in Australia, New Zealand, and Spain with Netflix handling everywhere else.
