As part of its first-ever DROP 01 event showcasing its animated titles, Netflix has revealed an announcement teaser for its upcoming anime series based on one of the most iconic video game franchises ever made.
The streamer showed off a very first glimpse at “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft,” an anime take on the property which sees Marvel and “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning” alum Hayley Atwell voicing the character of Lara Croft.
The anime is set after the events of the 2013 to 2018 video game reboot trilogy with Lara now having become a full-fledged treasure hunter.
Tasha Huo (“The Witcher: Blood Origin”) serves as showrunner on the series which is produced by Legendary Entertainment, game developer Crystal Dynamics and animated by Powerhouse Animation Studios (“Castlevania”).
Dmitri M. Johnson, Howard Bliss, Stephan Bugaj and Jacob Robinson executive produce.
The property has been adapted to the screen multiple times including two films with Angelina Jolie and one with Alicia Vikander. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is currently writing a live-action TV adaptation for Amazon Prime Video.
