Beer Says “Star Trek 4” Still Chugging Along

Paramount Pictures

The status of the fourth “Star Trek” film featuring the Kelvin Timeline cast (eg. Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, etc.) remains unclear.

“WandaVision” director Matt Shakman exited the project in August last year, with Paramount pulling the film from its slate. In March, out promoting “Dungeons & Dragons,” actor Chris Pine revealed he doesn’t know what’s going on with it.

In August, as part of a Q&A, actor Zachary Quinto was asked (via TrekMovie) what’s holding the film back to which he said: “A lot of other stuff, creative things. It’s complicated… I think it’s about different people having different agendas and ideas about what it will be. And I don’t know if and when it will happen.”

Now Lindsey Anderson Beer, out promoting her work as the director of the upcoming “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines” prequel film, tells Collider she thinks that fourth movie will still get made and is still chugging along like a slow train:

“It is, it’s still on the tracks. I love that project, and it was another one that I had to hop off of to direct this movie, and that was a hard thing to do. But I love everybody involved with that project.”

The development of a fourth film has had a long history over the seven years since “Star Trek Beyond” premiered in 2016, with several names attached as writers and directors. As it’s still stuck in development, it’s likely there’ll be no movement on the project until both strikes are fully over.
