Last year’s “Halloween Ends” marked not just the end of the recent David Gordon Green-directed sequel trilogy of films, but also Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ final outing for that franchise.
The film series is now back with its original owners at Miramax and Bloody Disgusting reports that the company is actively shopping the rights to the “Halloween” franchise around Hollywood.
The outlet says a major bidding war is currently going on with several different studios and streamers interested in potentially reviving the pale masked killer Michael Myers.
Miramax is reportedly open to both film and television projects and is currently taking offers. Thirteen films have been made in the series thus far, from the iconic John Carpenter original to sequels ranging from well-received to widely lambasted.
One thing is for sure, Jamie Lee Curtis won’t be back with the actress making it clear “Halloween Ends” marked her last appearance in the franchise.
To date, the various films have pulled in $884 million worldwide from a combined total budget of $143 million. The first of the Universal films, 2018’s “Halloween,” made $259 million at the box-office.
