“Man of Steel” and “Batman Begins” scribe David Goyer has revealed that, at one time, he was writing a “Star Wars” film that would’ve been directed by Guillermo Del Toro.

Appearing on the latest episode of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Goyer revealed the information whilst talking about the recently finished second season of his acclaimed Apple TV+ series “Foundation”.

Goyer says the unproduced “Star Wars” screenplay was done about four years ago and is a “cool script”. Separately he also wrote a scriptment for an ‘Origins of the Jedi’ film that would have been set 25,000 years before the events of the Skywalker saga.

That puts that project in line with the same time period that filmmaker James Mangold is planning to tell his “Dawn of the Jedi” film.

Following the reveal, Del Toro confirmed the news in a social media posting, saying: “True. Can’t say much. Maybe two letters ‘J’ and ‘BB’ is that three letters?”.

Neither Goyer, or Del Toro, are writing or directing any of the upcoming “Star Wars” films that have been announced. Goyer did work on a published “Star Wars” property with the “Vader Immortal” VR game.
