“Elemental” Has Major Disney+ Premiere

Pixar and Disney’s “Elemental” has become the best-performing movie premiere of the year on the Disney+ service.

According to the streamer, the film pulled in 26.4 million views in just five days following its release on the service on Wednesday last week (September 13th). Disney defines a view as total stream time divided by runtime.

It’s also the most-viewed animated movie premiere since Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” was released in March 2022, the most-viewed Disney+ movie premiere of all time in Latin America, and on the service’s Top 10 movie premieres of all time list.

To put it in comparison, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” debuted with approximately 10.8 million views in its first five days of availability on the service.

The success follows in the wake of the film’s remarkable turnaround at the box-office which saw a lackluster opening weekend forgotten as the movie’s remarkable legs ultimately took it to a $484 million worldwide haul.

Domestically it grossed $154 million, more than five times its opening weekend take of $30 million which is a rare feat for any theatrical release.
