Bethesda has warned fans of the “Elder Scrolls” franchise not to expect any update on the next entry in the series anytime in the near future.
After several delays, “Starfield” is set for launch in the next few days. Then, “Elder Scrolls 6” is expected to be the studio’s next flagship game followed by “Fallout 5”.
“Elder Scrolls 6” was first announced at E3 2018 with a teaser trailer and at last report last year, the game was in very early pre-production.
Now, in an interview with Spanish publication Vandal (translated by GameSpot), Bethesda’s head of publishing Pete Hines suggests the game actually hasn’t gotten that far and says the game is “in development, but it’s in early development”.
Hines reportedly also says fans shouldn’t expect more news about the game to be revealed anytime in the next few years:
“So no, don’t expect to hear anything about The Elder Scrolls 6 anytime soon. For now, Starfield is our focus, and it will continue to be our priority for some time until we speak about anything else.”
Work on “Starfield” began in late 2015 with the game only just coming out now. If “Elder Scrolls VI” is still in early development, that means it’s likely it won’t be close to being released for at least a few years.
