In an unexpectedly fast turnaround, Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that the acclaimed “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” has set its digital release – and its tomorrow.
The film will be available for purchase digitally on Friday, September 1st. The release will come with over 40 minutes of special features.
It arrives just over four weeks after the film had its debut in cinemas where it has so far pulled in $137.8 million globally from a $70 million budget. Critically it sits at a superb 97% (7.6/10) on Rotten Tomatoes.
Featurettes with the release include “TEENage Mutant Ninja Turtles” which explores the actual teenage voice cast and how the four boys recorded together to create authentic camaraderie; “The Mutant Uprising” which deas with the various creatures, and “New York, New York” which goes into the film’s visual style. There’s also a ‘Learn to Draw Leo’ tutorial.
In the film, and after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts.
Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a notorious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.
Directed by Jeff Rowe (“The Mitchells vs. The Machines”) and co-directed by Kyler Spears, the cast includes Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Hannibal Buress, Rose Byrne, Nicolas Cantu, John Cena, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Natasia Demetriou, Ayo Edebiri, Giancarlo Esposito, Post Malone, Brady Noon, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and Maya Rudolph.
