“Special Ops: Lioness” Has Major Debut

“Yellowstone” and “1923” creator Taylor Sheridan’s latest series, the espionage thriller “Special Ops: Lioness,” has proven another smash hit.

The series premiered with two episodes on Paramount+ on July 23rd. Paramount Global is now reporting that it was their most-watched global series premiere to date in its first 24 hours on the service – beating the prior record-holder “Halo”.

With three days of delayed viewing taken into account, the show had a combined audience of nearly 6 million on Paramount+ globally and linear viewing on Paramount Network in the United States.

The story is based on a real-life CIA program and follows Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira), a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within.

Zoe Saldana stars as Joe, the station chief of the Lioness program tasked with training, managing and leading her female undercover operatives to ready them.

Nicole Kidman plays Kaitlyn Meade, the CIA’s senior supervisor who has had a long career playing the politics game. Morgan Freeman plays Edwin Mullins, the United States Secretary of State.

Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Stephanie Nur and Hannah Love Lanier also star.

Kidman will executive produces alongside Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Saldana, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone and John Hillcoat for MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.
