“Superman: Legacy” Casts Three Heroes

ABC, Hulu, NBC

He hasn’t yet cast Lex Luthor or Jimmy Olsen, but DC Studios co-chief James Gunn is already filling out minor roles in the upcoming “Superman: Legacy” at DC Studios.

Three names have been added to the cast, each playing a version of a DC hero. First up, “Castle” and “The Rookie” alum Nathan Fillion has been cast as Guy Gardner, one of the human incarnations of the Green Lantern. Fillion and Gunn are old friends who’ve worked together on projects like “Slither” and “The Suicide Squad”.

Next up, “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” and “Rosaline” actress Isabela Merced has scored the role of Hawkgirl. Finally, Edi Gathegi (“The Blacklist,” “Twilight”) has been cast as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific.

The trio join David Corenswet (“Hollywood”) as the Man of Steel alongside Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane.

The new film will focus on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. The character is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way – offering kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.

Gunn previously indicated the characters will appear in a world where superheroes already exist as opposed to having to build it out one at a time. The casting comes exactly two years before “Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to debut on July 11th 2025.
