Following its new trailer premiere yesterday, talk about Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” has ramped right up and one of its stars promising something a bit different to the 2021 blockbuster.
First up, talk of another entry in the series has been swirling again following an update on Deadline about the trailer launch yesterday.
The outlet says Warners had released a new trailer for Villeneuve’s “second pic in a planned three-film saga” and referred to “Dune: Part Two” as the middle film. World of Reel got in touch to get clarification on the remark with the outlet’s writer Pete Hammond who reportedly replied: “That is what Denis says is the plan”.
Villeneuve already teased a potential trilogy possibility two years ago whilst scribe Jon Spaihts last year said the filmmaker “has talked seriously” about adapting the much shorter book “Dune Messiah” and turning it into a third ‘part’ movie.
Meanwhile during a recent interview with Collider whilst promoting the season finale of the critically acclaimed “Silo,” actress Rebecca Ferguson discussed what audiences can expect from the second film saying:
“I’m smiling so much right now. It’s so f—— good. I get emotional talking about it because I love Denny [Villeneuve] and I love Greig [Fraser] and I love the team.
But dude, number one is phenomenal and big and grandiose, and then you go close-ups and the imagery and the acting. Yeah, it’s all great. It’s f—— nothing compared to number two. Number two, it’s like a f—— gut punch. It’s unreal.
I haven’t seen the film. I’ve read the script. I’ve seen the footage. I’ve come onto set when I’m not filming, which by the way I don’t do because I’m too busy, tired, and I don’t really care. I’m done.
I wanted to see the setups. I wanted to see Austin Butler do what he was doing. It’s unbelievable. There are no words. The costumes, [Jacqueline West’s] costumes, what Austin’s bringing to that character, what Christopher Walken does. I mean, it’s unreal.”
“Dune: Part Two” is set to be released in theaters in November and will adapt the back half of Frank Herbert’s legendary novel – doing so with a tone said to be different.
The sequel introduces several new characters including Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan and Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV.
