Three Replacements Set For “Dune” TV Spin-Off

Warner Bros. Pictures

Olivia Williams (“The Crown”) and Jodhi May (“The Witcher”) have joined the cast of the “Dune: The Sisterhood” series at Max. Williams will play Tula Harkonnen whilst May is Natalya.

The actresses replace Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma respectively, following the original actresses having to step down due to scheduling issues.

In addition, Anna Foerster (“Lou”) will direct multiple episodes, including the premiere – taking over from “Chernobyl” executive producer Johan Renck who exited the project earlier this year.

Diane Ademu-John serves as creator, writer, and executive producer and Alison Schapker serves as showrunner on the series which was retooled heavily in the wake of Renck’s departure. It’s not clear if any of the footage he filmed will be used.

The series is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides in “Dune” and follows the Harkonnen Sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.

Emily Watson, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Shalom Brune Franklin, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, Chloe Lea, Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Jade Anouka and Chris Mason co-star.

The series is adapted from the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

Denis Villeneuve, Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matthew King, John Cameron, Mark Tobey and Jordan Goldberg, Brian Herbert, Kim Herbert and with Byron Merritt executive produce.
