Hot on the heels of Netflix’s success earlier this month with its three-part Schwarzenegger docuseries “Arnold,” the streaming giant has announced a November launch for “Sly” which is about Schwarzenegger’s old rival Sylvester Stallone.
Filmmaker Thom Zimny (“Springsteen on Broadway”) directs the movie, which will capture the decades-long career of the Oscar nominee who acts, writes, directs and produces.
The synopsis reads: “For nearly 50 years, Stallone has entertained millions with iconic characters and franchises ranging from “Rocky” to “Rambo” and beyond. This retrospective offers an intimate look at the man from his inspirational underdog story with the indelible characters he has brought to life.”
Stallone has retired from many of his most famous franchises in recent years with Rocky Balboa, John Rambo and his “Expendables” character all getting their swan songs.
He’s also hinted previously that his hit series “Tulsa King” will be among his final acting roles. He does confirm that he is writing and potentially directing “Tenderloin” and the Edgar Allen Poe biopic titled “Poe” with no plans to star in either project.
