Next “Fast & Furious” Spin-Off Gets A Title?

Universal Pictures

A new listing at Production Weekly indicates that the recently announced Dwayne Johnson-led “Fast and Furious” spin-off film will be titled “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes”.

Despite the title, this is not a direct sequel to “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” but rather a film set to bridge the gap between “Fast X” and “Fast X: Part Two”.

The title also suggests the movie will focus on the rivalry between Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes, who was introduced in “Fast X” as the film’s main villain.

The spin-off was teased during the post-credits scene of “Fast X” and sadly, there’s little known about it – no release date or director attached at this time. With “Fast X: Part Two” set for an April 4th 2025 release, it’s not clear if this spin-off will be ready to release before that hits cinemas.

The project is happening despite “Fast X” underperforming at the box office. The franchise hit its peak with “Furious 7” back in 2015, making $1.5 billion worldwide off a budget of up to $250 million. The eighth film also went strong, making $1.2 billion.

“F9” fell to $726 million, whilst “Fast X” with its costly $340 million budget, has made only $678.9 million worldwide over a month into its release. Domestically it has taken in just $143 million, the second lowest for the franchise to date ahead of only “2 Fast 2 Furious”.

The previous spin-off film “Hobbs & Shaw” made $760 million at the worldwide box-office.
