Acting icons Christopher Lloyd, Cary Elwes and Stockard Channing have joined the voice cast of the upcoming live-action “Sonic the Hedgehog” spin-off series “Knuckles” for the Paramount+ service.
In addition, comedy alums Paul Scheer (“Veep”) and Rob Huebel (“Children’s Hospital”) have also joined the series. Details on all the new actor’s characters are being kept under wraps.
As previously announced, Idris Elba will once again voice the character Knuckles as he did in the “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” movie.
Also onboard is Adam Pally as Wade Whipple, along with Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi, and Ellie Taylor. Rory McCann and Tika Sumpter will guest star, the latter reprising her role as Maddie.
Set between the second and upcoming third film in the franchise premiering December 2024, the Paramount Pictures and Sega of America-produced series sees Knuckles agreeing to train Wade as his protege and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.
John Whittington wrote the pilot for “Knuckles” and serves as head writer and executive producer on the series. Brian Schacter and James Madejski are also writing.
Jeff Fowler, who directed both “Sonic” films, will direct the pilot episode and executive produce the series alongside Elba, Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher.
