After numerous day-long stops due to picketing, production on both Marvel’s “Daredevil: Born Again” and DC’s “The Penguin” TV series have called it quits.
Deadline reports that both the Disney+ and Max shows are pausing production until the end of the writer’s strike – whenever that may be.
“Daredevil: Born Again” has been filming in and around New York and is three months into an eight-month shoot on an 18-episode new season for the Disney+ service.
That show has been written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord who cannot provide writing services on set due to the strike. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprise their roles from the Netflix series in this new incarnation.
It’s a similar story for the eight-episode “The Batman” follow-up spin-off series “The Penguin,” starring Colin Farrell, which has been targeted repeatedly by picketers.
Both shows began filming around the same time back in late February/early March. By its shorter nature, ‘Penguin’ is obviously further along though still had some way to go before wrapping.
