Capcom: Which “Resident Evil” Remake Next?

Video game publishing giant Capcom has posted a new survey asking players which “Resident Evil” remake they’d like to see next.

The survey, which primarily focuses on the various social media channels of the “Resident Evil” franchise, goes into users’ experience with the games and films along with their experience with the online portals and social media channels for the series.

The final page offers the question: “if there are any other Resident Evil games (they) want remade” and a blank text box so players can fill in which titles (and however many) they would like.

Capcom remade “Resident Evil 2” in 2019, “Resident Evil 3” in 2020 and “Resident Evil 4” this year – all of which were very warmly received by critics and fans and helped along by the original second and fourth titles, often considered the greatest games of the series.

Both those second and fourth title remakes were largely faithful, whereas the third one diverted quite a big and received criticism for it.

Where it goes next is a big question. “Resident Evil 5” isn’t nearly as beloved as the other entries – though it fares better on lists than “Resident Evil 6,” which those same lists generally consider the nadir of the franchise’s main titles. There’s also been talk of giving the original first “Resident Evil” a modern makeover.

On the other hand, there’s a strong push online for a remake of “Resident Evil: Code Veronica” – the 2000 DreamCast title set primarily on Antarctica and on a prison island in the Southern Ocean. That title received universal acclaim and hasn’t been brought to PC outside of emulation.

Capcom, meanwhile, is busy with the release of “Street Fighter 6” with the company aiming to sell 10 million copies of the title.
