Quick News: Flash, Mario, Trek, Metal

Warner Bros. Pictures

The Flash
Producer Barbara Muschietti says the upcoming “The Flash” film was never in jeopardy of being shelved despite media reports suggesting such due to either Warners cost cutting maneuvers or star Ezra Miller’s legal troubles and alleged abuse. Asked by EW if there was a legitimate fear of the movie being cancelled, Muschietti said: “Not at all. No. That was never real.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Illumination’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” has now become the second highest-grossing animated movie of all time, surpassing Disney’s “Frozen”.

The film has earned $560 million domestically and $727 million internationally for a worldwide box office haul of $1.288 billion – beating the $1.284 billion of the first “Frozen,” but falling short of the $1.45 billion of the second “Frozen”. [Source: Collider]

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Whilst many streaming series will often release their pilot episodes online in an effort to lure subscribers, Paramount+ is taking a slightly different approach to promote the second season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” premiering in June.

That approach? They’ve uploaded the entire first season of the series available for free on the official Paramount+ YouTube channel for anyone in the U.S. to watch. It’s a first season that pulled in a 99% (8.1/10) score on Rotten Tomatoes from 84 reviews which put it firmly up there in ‘Best of Year’ territory.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Following the announcement of the “Metal Gear Solid 3” remake last week, Konami has confirmed the game will contain only the voice recordings from the original game with no changes planned or new dialogue recorded.

Konami has also confirmed that neither Hideo Kojima nor Kojima Productions is involved in the title, which is being developed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC release by Virtuos. [Source: VGC]
