Schwarzenegger On Skipping “Expendables 4”

Lionsgate

With Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new Netflix series “FUBAR” now out on the service, the action star and former California Governor is back out there talking up the series.

He marks the latest iconic 80s/90s action star to make the jump to TV following Jean-Claude Van Damme doing Amazon’s “Jean-Claude Van Johnson” and Sylvester Stallone with “Tulsa King”.

Stallone will also be seen later this year in “The Expendables 4” opening in September. The film marks Stallone’s final turn as his Barney Ross character, making a brief appearance as Jason Statham will now take over as the lead there.

Schwarzenegger of course had a supporting role in the first three films – popping up for brief appearances as Trent “Trench” Mauser, an old acquaintance of Barney.

Speaking with Parade, he confirms he’s not a part of the fourth film and is done with the franchise. However, he adds he’s definitely up for working with Stallone again, this time in more than just cameos:

“It [Expendables 4] is done and I’m not in it. I said, ‘You know what, we have done this and I’m out of it.’ And [Stallone] really understood. I did [the first Expendables] as a favor to Sly. I shot it on a Saturday for two hours quickly in a church with Bruce Willis.

Sly said, ‘Oh, can you do Expendables 2?’ and I did that for a weekend. Then it was expanded for Expendables 3. And that was it. We’re going to do something together one day.”

Also onboard for the fourth installment are Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Andy García, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Iko Uwais.

Scott Waugh directs from a script written by Spenser Cohen, Max Adams, and John Joseph Connolly. It is slated to hit cinemas in September.
