New “Destiny” Film & TV Projects Planned?

Bungie

A potential film or TV series adaptation of the “Destiny” franchise could be in the works as Bungie has reportedly hired former Warner Bros. Discovery executive Gabriel VanHuss to head up their expansion efforts into other mediums.

The Game Post broke the story, finding a posting by VanHuss on LinkedIn in which he revealed he’s been hired by Bungie to serve as the new Head of Linear Media for their Destiny IP.

VanHuss reportedly says he’ll work with the Destiny Universe Leadership team to “create strategy and execute the operations for expansion of Destiny into new media, including TV, films, books, comics, and audio formats.”

He then adds: “Destiny has a universe worth of stories waiting to be told, and I look forward to connecting best-in-class partners to our amazing creative team to bring them to life for current and new fans.”

The online first-person shooter game began in 2014 when developer Bungie first released the online FPS which spawned a sequel in 2017. It marked Bungie’s first new console franchise since the “Halo” series and unfolds in a mythological science fiction” world.

Players take on the role of a Guardian, protectors of Earth’s last safe city as they wield a power called Light to protect the City from different alien races. Guardians are tasked with reviving a celestial being called the Traveler, while journeying to different planets to investigate and destroy the alien threats before humanity is completely wiped out.

The franchise has already gone beyond games into comics and books.
