“Community” Movie Delayed By Strike?

NBC

After many years of waiting, fans of the beloved comedy series “Community” finally got their wish in September last year with Peacock announcing that a movie was in the works – fulfilling the show’s dream of “six seasons and a movie”.

The show premiered on NBC in 2009 and follows a community college study group. “Rick and Morty” co-creator Dan Harmon was behind the show, which saw disruption and scheduling changes throughout its run – even ended up on Yahoo for its final season.

Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, Chevy Chase, and Jim Rash starred in the show and have gone on to successful careers in the wake of the series.

Now though, in a recent interview with Collider related to the FOX sitcom “Animal Control,” series star Joel McHale revealed that production on the project is likely to be delayed due to the ongoing WGA writer’s strike.

McHale makes it clear he stands with the writers: “I don’t say this lightly, but I stand with the WGA, and there’s no doubt that pay has gone down 23% since 2007, and that needs to change.”

However, he says whilst he isn’t “exactly sure” how the strike will impact the project, from what he’s heard he’s “guessing it’s not going to start on time.” How that will impact the film’s status isn’t known as getting the ensemble’s scheduling in order could be tricky.
