Peacock has premiered the first trailer for “Twisted Metal,” the high-octane action comedy series starring Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz. In addition the series has set a July 27th launch date.
Though inspired by the classic PlayStation game series, the show is based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (“Deadpool”) and written by Michael Jonathan Smith (“Cobra Kai”).
The live-action half-hour action-comedy series follows a motor-mouthed outsider (Mackie) who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
With the help of a trigger-happy car thief (Beatriz), he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road.
One of those is Sweet Tooth (Will Arnett) – a lover of chaos and a majestic rage-filled killer who dons an ever-smiling flaming-haired clown mask and drives a signature ice cream truck. Thomas Haden Church and Neve Campbell co-star.
Playstation Productions is backing the series which has Michael Jonathan Smith as writer, showrunner, and executive producer whilst Reese, Wernick, Mackie and Kitao Sakurai executive produce.
