“Poor Things” Sets September Launch

Searchlight

Searchlight has set a September 8th theatrical release for “The Lobster” and “The Favourite” filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film “Poor Things”.

Emma Stone stars as Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe).

She is also beautiful, volatile erotomaniac who is revived from a suicidal drowning with the mental faculties of a child.

Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn and see the world. She soon runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a debauched lawyer on multi-continent spanning whirlwind adventure.

Tony McNamara will adapt the novel while Stone, Ali Herting, Dave McCary, Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe produce.
