Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry and Scarlett Johansson have been set as the leads of the voice cast for the animated “Transformers One” film which serves as a prequel about the epic rivalry between the Autobots and the Decepticons.
Hemsworth will play a young Optimus Prime and Henry is voicing a young Megatron in the origin story about how the brothers-in-arms became sworn enemies.
Johansson will play Elita, Keegan-Michael Key is Bumblebee, Jon Hamm is Sentinel Prime and Laurence Fishburne is Alpha Trion. The cast was announced at CinemaCon as a part of Paramount Pictures’ presentation.
Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation says in a statement:
“I’m so excited and proud to be working with Hasbro and eOne to bring the first animated ‘Transformers’ movie in almost 40 years to theaters for a never-before-told story. I’m honored to have such incredible talents come together to portray these well-known and much-loved characters in an origin story at the heart of the franchise.”
“Toy Story 4” director Josh Cooley is helming the film from a screenplay by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari whilst Steven Spielberg is executive producing.
“Transformers One” opens in cinemas on July 19th 2024.
