The first photo has been released of Alicia Vikander as Henry VIII’s final wife Katherine Parr in the Cannes-bound psychological thriller feature “Firebrand” from Brazilian helmer Karim Ainouz. Jude Law co-stars.

The story explores how Katherine, the last of Henry’s six wives, endured her union with the monstrous monarch and kept her head in the 16th Century. The film is based on Elizabeth Fremantles historical novel “Queen’s Gambit”. [Source: Deadline]

Peacock
NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock racked up a loss of more than $700 million in the first quarter of this year as it struggles to grow its subscriber base. Subscriber figures hit 22 million in the first three months of 2023, up 60% year-on-year, with revenues at $685 million. [Source: THR]

PVOD & SVOD Dates
A couple of key VOD release dates have been announced int he past day or so. “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” and “Mafia Mamma” are coming to PVOD on May 2nd. “Evil Dead Rise” and Guy Ritchie’s “The Covenant” hit PVOD on May 9th.

On SVOD, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” will hit Disney+ on May 17th, “Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom” hits Netflix on May 19th, and “Vacation Friends 2” has set an August 25th launch on Hulu. [Source: When to Stream]

Aliens: Dark Descent
Focus Entertainment has released a new pre-order trailer for its upcoming game “Aliens: Dark Descent”. The clip showcases the strategy game’s story and its new xenomorph along with bits of actual gameplay.
