Lucasfilm Animation had a busy Star Wars Celebration over the weekend. Along with previewing the new run of the episodic anthology series “Star Wars Visions” releasing next month, they also confirmed the return of another animated anthology with a second season of “Tales of the Jedi”.
But one of their biggest panels was for the recently finished airing second season of the series “Star Wars: The Bad Batch”. During the presentation, it was reportedly announced a third and final season had been given the go-ahead to debut on the Disney+ service in 2024.
An in-room teaser trailer for the third season was shown with Ian McDiarmid’s Palpatine visiting Dr. Royce Hemlock, leader of the Empire’s cloning efforts at a facility on Mount Tantiss. In the new run, Omega and Crosshair are both still in Imperial custody, whilst Ming-Na Wen’s bounty hunter Fennec Shan could be seen at one point.
Set after the events of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” the series follows the heroic Clone Force 99 in the aftermath of Order 66 and the rise of the Empire. Disillusioned, the group set out on their own. The end of the second season saw the death of team member Tech and the capture of Omega.
