Brie Larson Talks Her “Fast X” Character

Universal Pictures

“Captain Marvel” and “Room” actress Brie Larson has revealed new details about her character in “Fast X”. Larson joins the franchise for the first time with this tenth entry in the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

The Louis Leterrier-helmed film serves as the first of a two-parter closing out the franchise. It is also said to sport a production budget of around $340 million – making it the most expensive non-Disney film ever and 70% larger than that of “F9”.

Speaking with Total Film magazine, she says her character’s name is Tess and she’s the daughter of Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody. Mr. Nobody served as the government handler of Dominic Toretto and his team in both “Furious 7” and “The Fate of the Furious”.

He was briefly seen in “F9” via a video link when a plane he was on was shot down over a Central American country. It is unknown if he’s still alive. Talking about her role, Larson explains how she differs from her father:

“She is technically Agency, but she’s kind of a bridge, in a way. She doesn’t go along with the way that the Agency’s headed now that her father isn’t there.

She believes in the legacy that her father set up, which is standing with Dom and standing with the Toretto family, and is fighting for that.

Dom knows that she has a strong mind and definitely respects that she’s gone out of her way to talk to him and wants to build trust. What he asks of Tess is a test. Like, if it’s an impossible task, and she can get it done, then that’s family for life.”

Returnees include Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, John Cena, Charlize Theron, Cardi B, Helen Mirren, Michael Rooker and Scott Eastwood.

They are joined by Larson Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior, Rita Moreno and Alan Ritchson in the new outing, with Momoa playing Dante Reyes, a flamboyant villain who seeks vengeance against Toretto following the death of his father Hernan Reyes in “Fast Five”.

“Fast X” arrives in cinemas on May 19th.
