Magazine Dreams
Searchlight Pictures has set a December 8th release date for the Jonathan Majors-led bodybuilder drama “Magazine Dreams” which scored rave reviews out of Sundance and is expected to put Majors in awards contention next year.

Majors plays a man determined to make it in the world of bodybuilding even as he faces feelings of alienation, anger issues, and caring for an ailing grandfather. Elijah Bynum directs. [Source: THR]

Blue Beetle
Comedian and actor George Lopez has teased that the trailer for the DC Comics adaptation “Blue Beetle” is ‘coming soon’. The news came in a photo Lopez posted featuring his co-stars Xolo Mariduena and Harvey Guillen in the film along with director Angel Manuel Soto.

Lopez says: “‘The Beetles’ [are] so excited for this one! Trailer coming soon and you’re gonna love it! Stay tuned.” No specific date was given. [Source: ]

Eileen
Neon has purchased North American rights to “Eileen,” a film adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh’s acclaimed novel of the same title, with plans for a release this Fall. William Oldroyd (“Lady Macbeth”) directs.

Thomasin McKenzie, Anne Hathaway, Shea Whigham, Marin Ireland, and Owen Teague star in the story of a young secretary who becomes close with a counselor of troubled teenagers at the prison where they work. Their friendship takes an unexpected turn, changing both their lives. [Source: Variety]

Mean Girls The Musical
Jon Hamm is joining Paramount’s “Mean Girls” movie musical in the role of Coach Carr, a resident gym coach and incompetent sex-ed teacher. The film adapts the Broadway musical based on the 2004 teen comedy film.

Hamm joins a previously announced cast of Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey and Renee Rapp. Coach Carr was played by Dwayne Hill in the original film and isn’t returning but others like Tina Fey and Tim Meadows are. [Source: THR]
