BBC’s “Taboo” S2 Is In The Works

Over six years after the first season aired back in January 2017, some movement seems to be finally happening on the second season of the Tom Hardy-led BBC and FX drama series “Taboo”.

The eight-episode first season was created by Steven Knight, Hardy, and his father Chips Hardy and follows adventurer and businessman James Delaney (Tom Hardy) who returns to England in 1814 after spending twelve years in Africa following the death of his father.

The series explored the dark side of London at the time – the criminal gangs, the corruption of the East India Company and the class divide. Jessie Buckley, Oona Chaplin and Stephen Graham co-starred and overall the reviews were quite good.

Knight, Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott, Dean Baker and Kate Crowe all executive produced and all have since collaborated on other projects together such as the just-about-to-launch Olivia Colman-led new take on Dickens’ “Great Expectations”.

Out promoting that limited series, Baker and Crowe were asked about their partnership with Hardy and Scott and if there was anything else planned. Baker responded: “Currently we are working on a second season of Taboo, and hopefully we will get to explore more Dickens with Steve, Ridley and Tom.”

Knight last year said he thinks the show’s second season will start production towards the end of 2023 with the main hold-up being scheduling. Knight has had a busy few days being tied to both the next “Star Wars” film and the upcoming “Vertigo” remake.
