Iconic actor Tony Todd appears to have let slip that the full sequel to Insomniac Games’ highly acclaimed 2018 title “Marvel’s Spider-Man” is set to arrive for the PlayStation 5 in September.
According to VGC, Todd appeared to break protocol and reveal to a fan on Twitter that the game’s release month “Looks like September! Massive publicity coming in August. Commercials start dropping in August so I’m told.”
That date matches with several other sources who’ve been indicating the same. Todd voices Venom in the sequel which will be Sony PlayStation’s biggest exclusive for the year and a likely GOTY contender alongside Nintendo’s “Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” and Microsoft’s “Starfield”.
Yuri Lowenthal, who voices Peter Parker in the games, told CBM back in December: “It’s a massive game so I’m still doing a little bit of work. I know they’re confident about their release date and Insomniac has always been good about that. Obviously, I can’t really talk about the game much, but I will tell you that it’s astonishing.”
It has also been hinted recently (via Inverse that the game will boast an innovative dialogue system. The first game made dialogue adaptive to what Spidey was doing, whereas this sounds like it will go further.
To date only one trailer for the title has been released – a September 2021 showcase reveal back. There was a brief bit of footage in a 2023 Sony reel the other week, but otherwise Insomniac Games has kept the title very much under wraps.
