“Creed” Anime, Spin-Offs & More Planned

MGM

With “Creed III” scoring the biggest opening weekend for a sporting film ever, the teases of a potentially larger “Creed” universe hinted at during promotional interviews by its star/director Michael B. Jordan are now coming into focus.

Deadline reports that there have been meetings with Jordan about various “Creed”-related projects for the past year and in the wake of that $100 million+ worldwide debut, those plans have gotten bigger and bolder.

Things are still in exploratory stages but indications are an anime series is in the works along with a companion live-action TV series. In addition, a project centering around Adonis Creed’s daughter Amara (Mila Davis-Kent) is also being considered by Amazon.

Amazon now owns the franchise in the wake of its acquisition of MGM and is actively mining the latter’s IP library for projects to help justify its $8.5 billion acquisition spend.

They would join the previously announced Drago spinoff movie in the works at MGM with that one being penned by Robert Lawton and centering on Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu).

Finally there’s the potential for a more regular fourth “Creed” along with further possible live-action and animated movies set within this world. Jordan said at the premiere of “Creed III” last week that “building the Creed universe is something that I’m really excited about”.
