Warner Bros. Home Video has announced that a new 4K five-film boxed set of all the Christopher Reeve Superman films is on the way – and all of them are getting extras.
Released as part of the year-long centennial celebration for the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros. Studio, the five films – “Superman: The Movie,” “Superman II,” “Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut,” “Superman III,” and “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” – will be available as a combo pack for 4K Ultra HD Disc and Digital purchase on April 18th.
Each of the films has been remastered in 4K with HDR, and will boast a 4K UHD disc, a Blu-ray disc, and a digital version of each film. The first film will be available in Dolby Vision HDR with the sequels only in HDR10, all will have Dolby Atmos tracks.
Based on the DC character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the Superman films saw actor Christopher Reeve take on the role of the legendary Man of Steel alongside Margot Kidder as Lois Lane and Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor.
Extras include a bunch of vintage cartoons from different developers, featurettes, deleted scenes and commentary tracks. All of it is flying on to disc April 18th, and no individual 4K releases are planned as yet.
