All five seasons of the acclaimed comedy series “Arrested Development” will be removed from Netflix globally in March. This includes not just the original three FOX seasons but the two seasons produced by and for Netflix itself.
Created by Mitchell Hurwitz, the series follows the dysfunctional and bizarre Bluth family picking up the pieces after patriarch George Bluth Sr. (Jeffery Tambor) is sent to prison.
The cast includes Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, the late Jessica Walter, Portia De Ross, and David Cross. Ron Howard narrates as well as executive produces.
The series was originally broadcast for three seasons on FOX until it was cancelled in 2006. Netflix then revived the show in 2011 with a controversial fourth season premiering in 2013. Widely panned and famous for keeping its cast members separated, the streamer ended up recutting the entire season and releasing that version in 2018 to a slightly better response. A better-received fifth season premiered in 2019.
It’s expected Hulu will add seasons 4 and 5 to its service in the U.S. and Disney+ will add them internationally under their Star brand. The first three seasons are already on those respective services.
The 20th Century Fox/20th Television library on Netflix has been dwindling with time, and it’s expected the seven-season comedy “New Girl” will exit the service in April.
