The Walt Disney Company will commemorate its 100th anniversary on October 16th this year and head of that, the media giant is prepping to debut a new exhibition and various events for D23 members.
They’ve kicked off celebrations with Disney100, a new 90-second commercial that spotlights Disney’s famous works and the influence they’ve had on people’s lives and the culture throughout the years.
The commercial is said to honor all the fans and creators who have helped the company achieve success through the decades – doing so by highlighting memorable moments with fans alongside scenes from their assorted projects over the years.
In a statement, Walt Disney Company CEO Robert A. Iger says:
“As we commemorate our historic 100th anniversary, it is remarkable to look back at Walt Disney’s legacy and his passionate pursuit of excellence that continue to propel the Company forward today. We are incredibly grateful to the generations of people all over the world for being such a special part of our history and for inviting our stories and characters into their lives over the past century. Disney100 represents a celebration of all of our fans and families, and our storytellers and creative visionaries whose talents and imaginations have created the magical moments that make Disney such an enduring part of the global culture.”
The celebrations kick off this coming week with the opening of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in cinemas on Friday, followed by the ten-gallery sized Disney100: The Exhibition at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia which will kick off a tour around the United States and Europe. In September, Disney will hold a Disney100-themed Destination D23 exclusively for D23 members.
Disney also has numerous major films on the way this year including “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” “The Little Mermaid,” “The Marvels,” “Haunted Mansion,” “Elemental” and “Wish”
