Does A New PS5 Ad Tease “Uncharted 5”?

Sony Interactive Ent.

A new promotional video for the PlayStation 5 has released footage from an unknown game that several have suggested could be a brief glimpse of the next chapter in the “Uncharted” series.

The advertisement comes in the form of a news broadcast and showcases various first-party PS5 exclusives that have either been released in the past year or so (“Horizon: Forbidden West,” “God of War: Ragnarok,” “Returnal,” “Gran Turismo 7” and “Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart”) or are set to release in 2023 including “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” and “Final Fantasy XVI”.

In the midst of all that are several shots from an unknown title in which an unidentified treasure hunting woman looking for a mysterious box relic in a dark cave.

The footage hasn’t been connected to any official PlayStation title, but the footage combined with the ads focus on console’s exclusives implies the “Uncharted” connection, as talk emerged in December that Sony is moving forward with a new “Uncharted” game from a new developer as Naughty Dog is no longer interested in the franchise.

Naughty Dog however was reportedly set to offer some assistance to the project in those reports last month. Over 41 million copies of games from the franchise have been sold to date, and it remains one of the highest-rated game franchises of all time.

Whilst 2016’s “Uncharted: A Thief’s End” served as the finale of Nathan Drake’s treasure-seeking escapades, the game’s epilogue introduced Nathan and Elena’s daughter Cassie Drake with players taking control of teenager Cassie. This has led to speculation the woman in the clips is a grown up version of Cassie.
