Actress Anya Taylor-Joy has shut down talk of a second season of “The Queen’s Gambit” following a tweet on her account this morning hinting that one might be in the works.
The Emmy-nominated actress confirmed that her Twitter page was hacked today after a tweet simply reading ‘The Queen’s Gambit Season 2’ a few hours ago got people talking.
“The Northman” and “The Witch” actress shared on the stories section of her Instagram account: “My Twitter has been hacked. Apologies for all inconveniences. It’s not me!”.
Taylor-Joy hadn’t actually tweeted since November 2020 – right after the critically acclaimed mini-series made Netflix history by becoming the streamer’s biggest scripted limited series to date at the time. Approximately 62 million households binged the show in its first 28 days.
Taylor-Joy starred as orphan chess prodigy Beth Harmon who battles addiction, sexism, and self-doubt on her way to becoming the world champion in Russia.
The Scott Frank and Allan Scott-created series won eleven Emmys, including Outstanding Limited Series. Bill Camp, Moses Ingram, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Harry Melling and Thomas Brodie-Sangster co-starred.
Taylor-Joy, most recently seen in the darkly comedic thriller “The Menu,” will next be seen as the voice of Princess Peach in “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” at Easter, and spent much of 2022 filming George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel spin-off feature “Furiosa” which is due in 2024.
