“M3GAN 2.0” Activates In Jan 2025

Universal Pictures

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse have officially announced that the sequel to the critically acclaimed box-office horror smash “M3GAN” is going ahead.

Titled “M3GAN 2.0,” the script is being written by the first film’s scribe Akela Cooper and is set for a release on January 17th 2025.

Actors Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, who starred in the first and survived to tell the tale, are both on board to return. In addition, Williams, who executive-produced the original, will now be acting as a regular producer this time around.

Gerard Johnstone, who directed the first movie, isn’t slated to return as yet, but producers hope to make a deal with him shortly. As per usual, Jason Blum and James Wan will produce.

Williams starred in the first as a robotics engineer who gives a life-like robot doll to her niece who is grieving over the death of her parents. Things take a turn as the doll becomes murderous.

“M3GAN” debuted to $30.4 million in its opening weekend and has so far snagged $92 million worldwide. It has spawned numerous memes in regards to its star surrounding her singing and dancing moments.

The film was originally rated R but saw some slight reshoots to become more suggestive of the horror and turned into a PG-13. The move worked as a younger audience has reportedly been a key to the film’s box-office success.

Johnstone previously indicated his desire to do a sequel whilst promoting the film, saying they had many ideas they wanted to explore they didn’t get a chance to do in the first film.
